Silhouette sunset over Hoboken.

Thanks to everyone who made such gracious comments on yesterday's photo. I hardly ever get that many comments. I was quite surprised to see my photo in the number 2 spot of most popular dailies today. I think that's a first. Thanks again for your support! I know I don't make nearly as many comments as I should.

Hanging around.

These workers were dangling about 20 stories above ground at the W Hotel in Hoboken.

I have no idea what they were doing. Perhaps window washing, but I don't know. I watched them for about 5 minutes to see if they were in trouble or not, but I couldn't tell. One kept pushing a stick against the wall to push himself out further and swing closer to the building. The other one did nothing.

Barge traffic on the Hudson.

What a difference a day makes.
InOurTime > 9/6/08 Daily Photo. Day 185. Six months of a Daily Photo as my first post was 3/6/08.

It has been raining pretty hard for several hours and I thought it would let up but it didn't. I decided to try to capture a rainy scene. It's not easy taking a pic in the rain without getting the camera wet. I took this from a spot where there is a wide overhang.

I think this building is cool. Check out the trees growing out of it. It's next to, and I guess part of, the train yard.

This is where cabs wait in line to get to the cab stand.

In response to some questions below, I don't know what the building is used for exactly, but it appears it is on the N.J. Transit property. The plants are growing out of the roof.
And yes, the cabs definitely make the photo and I intentionally got the yellow line in the shot too. Thanks for all the comments!

The "Angel of the Waters", Bethesda Terrace fountain, in sepia.

I think this is one of the better shots I have taken of this statue.

Pierrepont Family Memorial. Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York. Designed by Richard Upjohn.

I have created a new gallery, "Green-Wood Cemetery", http://inourtime.smugmug.com/gallery/6163147_iUdQ2//388397243_MVEaQ

I will be adding to it so check back if it interests you. Green-Wood Cemetery is a remarkable place.

Walking through there, I am reminded of these words:

"If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the garish day and in the darkest night--amidst your happiest scenes and gloomiest hours; always, always; and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath; or the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by."

Christmas box.

I got this many years ago and use it to store Christmas stuff. I think it's a cool box.
