InOurTime > 11/9/08 Daily Photo. Day 249. Hoboken unveiled this WWII Memorial to it's 159 fallen heroes of WWII yesterday. At the bottom of the photo you will see the names of Daniel, James & William Wallace, 3 brothers. There were two other sets of brothers from Hoboken as well. InOurTime > 11/12/08 Daily Photo. Day 252. The Tweed Courthouse. Boss Tweed went to prison for allegedly embezzling tons of money in the construction of this building between 1861 and 1872. It was said at the time the building wouldn't last 20 years. Guiliani spent $85,000,000 renovating it as a new home for the Museum of the City of New York and Bloomberg reneged on that deal and turned this magnificent public building into a home for the Board of Education bureaucracy. He also put a small school in there for political cover. No expense was spared in renovating the building because it was to be a public building. Very limited tours are available but they are only given for individuals on certain Fridays at 2pm with a prior reservation. There are only 4 such tours in all of November & December. But of course I only took the photo because I like the columns.

InOurTime > March 5, 2009 Daily Photo. Day 365. View from the West Village toward Hoboken and Jersey City. Usually I am taking photos from the opposite side of the Hudson in the park in front of the building with the two pyramids you can see on the middle right. Thought it would be interesting to take a pic from this side but the light got away from me and I had no tripod so this will have to do. You really need to look at this as large as you can. In the end, I did what I always do in choosing my 365th daily photo. I just took photos when I could (which was after work) and then picked the one I liked the best. Thanks for all of your comments and good wishes over the past year. I will keep posting a photo every day but I won't guarantee that I took it that day. I may just edit and post one from another day.
InOurTime > 10/27/08 Daily Photo. Day 236. Taken on my iPhone. These pay phones are at the top of the stairs of one of the PATH entrances in Hoboken. I have passed these thousands of times (but I don't always use this entrance). Today when I saw them, I instantly thought "how cool it would be take a photo of these outdated pay phones with my iPhone and use it as my photo of the day." And there you have it. I could never have imagined the first time I saw these pay phones a lifetime ago that one day I would take a photo of them with a phone and then post it on something called the internet and thousands of people would look at it and think, "how cool is that?". LOL, yeah, right. As if.
InOurTime > July 18, 2009 Daily Photo. A beautiful beach day on Fire Island. I don't want to leave until September.
InOurTime > 10/3/08 Daily Photo. Day 212. Dusk at the Erie Lackawanna Ferry Terminal, Hoboken, New Jersey. This is the terminal that the ferries to Manhattan used to run out of, but the last ferry left this terminal in 1966. Ferries started again in the 1980's and run from a small area beyond this terminal. The buildings in the background are in Jersey City and there is water separating them from Hoboken, and you currently have to go around the train terminal and trainyard to get to Jersey City by foot or car. A pedestrian bridge is being built, I guess to make the Hoboken station ( ferry, commuter trains & PATH train to Manhattan) more accessible. The only way to get a good shot of this terminal is from the water.
